Full Charge Bookkeer

*Part-time with potential to grow to full-time

Compensation: Commensurate with experience

Van Auken & Co is a small bookkeeping firm with additional professional service offerings. We are seeking a part-time bookkeeper to work with some of our existing and incoming clientele. The ideal candidate for this position is willing to grow with us while we enter a new phase of business expansion.

10 hours a week to start, then a strong potential to increase to full-time within 6 months.

 

Job Duties

  • Ensure the accuracy of the general ledger

  • Monthly expense categorization and reconciliation for assigned clients

  • Accounts Receivable for clients

  • Accounts Payable for clients: includes daily intake of bills, coding, and posting for clients

  • Ensuring accurate syncing across integrated accounting applications

  • Ensure the accuracy of entries by the bookkeeping clerk/data entry staff

  • Monitor accounting correspondence closely and communicate as needed

  • Maintain accounting calendar and meet deadlines

  • Sales tax returns

  • Insurance auditing reporting

Software Skills

  • Quickbooks Online expertise required

  • Quickbooks Desktop versions a plus

  • Bill.com and other AP management platforms

  • International contractor payments

  • MS Excel, MS Word, Google Workspace

Required Experience

  • Minimum 5 years bookkeeping experience

  • Bachelors in Accounting or finance related degree preferred

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and FASBY principles

  • Experience with non-profit accounting and fund accounting a plus
